I have wanted to become a lawyer for as long as I can remember. Growing up in a family of lawyers first sparked my interest in the profession, but it was through law school and my training contract that I truly came to understand the purpose and impact of a legal career. What motivates me is the opportunity to help clients navigate complex legal and commercial challenges, whether by ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, providing practical solutions that align with a client’s risk appetite, or defending clients in investigations and litigation to help achieve fair and just outcomes.

My interest ultimately led me to competition law, an area that I find both intellectually stimulating and highly relevant to everyday life. Competition law is fundamentally about preserving fair market competition and thereby promoting consumer welfare. Knowing that my work contributes, even in a small way, to fairer markets and better outcomes for consumers makes the practice particularly meaningful to me.

Baker McKenzie has played a significant role in shaping my career. What first attracted me to the Firm was its truly global platform and the breadth of opportunities available. During my training contract, I rotated through a wide range of practice groups and discovered interests that I had never anticipated. While I initially assumed I would follow a corporate law path like my family, those experiences helped me find my own professional voice and ultimately led me to qualify into competition law, a decision I have never regretted.

Equally important has been the people. Baker McKenzie’s international reach means there is almost always a colleague somewhere in the world with expertise to share. The culture is collaborative and supportive at every level, and I have grown tremendously through opportunities to learn from colleagues across offices and practice groups. Many of these colleagues have also become friends whom I visit whenever I travel.

If there is one thing I wish I had known before starting my legal career, it is this: always keep an open mind. The opportunities available may lead you to a career path that is very different from the one you first imagined, and far more rewarding than you ever expected.
